Jan Thomas Odegard is Partner of NCG since 2012, conducting appraisals and evaluations, and providing strategic and managerial advice to NGOs. He is a social scientist with 28 years of experience in the development cooperation sector in the thematic area civil society, environment/climate, human rights, and private sector developement/CSR. Main assignments (of 35) from 2013-17 were 13 evaluations and reviews of public and private sector programs, and 22 assigments regarding organisational development, including capacity building, mangement advice, strategy development, organisational development processes of two international humanitarian organisations, setting up a new foundation in natural resource management and governance, and program development.
Before 2012 Odegard was Director for five years of Friends of the Earth Norway, a large Norwegian environmental NGO with 40 staff, NOK 50 mill. budget and partners in 20 developing countries. Until 2007 he worked five years in Rainforest Foundation on programs, policy development, human rights, international climate issues and CSR. From 1999-2001 he was Officer in Charge for the UN in Mozambique, coordinating a national private-sector program. Odegard has four years of academic research experience on international development, environment and private sector. He also has experience as Chairman/board member, program manager, case officer and journalist.
